Are these camps restricted to a particular age group?
Tawheed Summer Camp caters for all age groups. However, the only restriction is that children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult who is a parent or a guardian.
Is there gender segregation?
The girls’ village (Noor Village) is a completely secluded area with cabins, including their own swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball and other playing fields, allowing privacy to play sports without hijab. In areas where both genders get together such as dining and prayers, campers must dress modestly within Islamic prescriptions.
Check-In & Check-Out
A. Family Cabins
1. Check out at 11:00 am / Check in from 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
2. Late check in (after 9 pm) or check out (after 12 noon) will be charged an additional 1/2 day.
B. Campers arrival/departure by bus
1. Check out at 10:00 am / Check in after 2:00 pm.
C. Campers that are dropped off and picked up by car
1. Check out at 10:00 am from cabins – campers must be picked up by parents no later than 11:00 am.
2. Check in and drop off time from 3:00 pm- 8:00 pm – Campers who arrive later will be charged an additional 1/2 day.
How do I register?
Enter your email address on the login page. If your email exists in our database, you will be asked to retrieve it using Forgot Password. Otherwise, an email with the temporary password will be sent to you. Please make sure that you check your spam folder and add our site to your safe list. If you still do not receive a password from our system, please let us know and we will send it to you manually.
After logging into the My Account page, click on Register for Camp and enter your information. Upon successful submission, you will receive a confirmation email and your registration information will be listed in the My Account page. You can make the necessary changes to update your records.
To add more family members using the same email address, simply click on Register Family for Camp on the My Account page and add and edit as many members as you wish.
How do I change my password?
After logging into the My Account page, you will click on the link under Personal Info section. To change the password, enter your current password and then the new one. The change is immediate and after you logout, use the new password. An email will be sent to confirm this change.
Registration and Payment Deadlines
Registration will close when we reach capacity. If full payment is not received by the deadline of July 22nd, 2015, your registration will be cancelled or a late fee of $50 will be assessed. Please note: We have a waiting list when camp reaches capacity, and if your payment is not received by the deadline noted, your registered space will be forfeited and cancelled.
ALL PAYMENTS MADE AT THE CAMP WILL BE ASSESSED A LATE FEE OF $50 PER PERSON UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE. WALK IN REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ASSESSED A $75 ADMINISTRATIVE FEE AND WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE AT OUR DISCRETION.
All participants are required to observe modesty while at camp. Sisters should cover themselves with loose clothing and dress appropriately in common areas. We recommend long clothing especially during prayers. Brothers must not wear sleeveless tank tops nor shorts in common areas; long trousers and shirts must be worn during prayer.
Cell Phone Texting
Cell phones are allowed but cannot be used during lecture and prayer sessions. Texting or using any social networking sites such as facebook or twitter and communication between brothers and sisters at camp is strictly prohibited. Anyone violating these rules will be sent home without a refund and at campers’ expense.
Fees & Transport
What are the costs for transport?
We charge a nominal fee for all shuttle services to and from the local airports and Detroit. Our prices are calculated based on various timings. Please click here to see our rates and to pay for the service. All payments must be made before pickup to ensure a confirmation.
What are the bus timings and pickup location?
The Toronto Coach will leave from the following location and time:

Departure time will be 9:30 am sharp (You will be notified by email).
All passengers MUST arrive at this location by 9 am to be processed for loading and registration fees must be paid in full. Please make sure you have all the necessary documents to cross the border.

- Flint Airport
1. Arrival pick-up from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
2. Drop off from 6:00 am – 1:00 pm.
- Detroit Airport.
There will be three shuttle pickup and drop off times.
a. Pickup times from the airport: 12:30 pm / 3:30 pm / 7:30 pm.
b. Campers arriving after the last shuttle will need to make their own arrangements for the night. An additional charge of $60 will be charged for pick up on the next day.
c. Drop off times- Allow 1 1/2 hours – 2 hours to arrive at the airport.
Leave Camp Taha at 6:00 am / 10:00 am / 1:00 pm.
We must receive your itinerary via email at firstname.lastname@example.org in order for us to schedule your pickup. The itinerary must have the airport, airline, arrival time and flight number in the email.

Which payment methods do you accept?
We accept check, cash, bank draft, money orders and credit cards.
Do you give discount for early payment?
Yes. Our Early Bird Discount is 10% off if paid in full before April 21st and 5% off if paid in full before May 11th.
Campers registering for multiple camps are eligible for an additional 10% off the total cost.
Do you have an airline agreement for discounts to Detroit airport and Flint?
No we do not.
What transportation methods are available?
We offer shuttles from Detroit (approximately 1.5 hour drive to the camp) and Flint (approximately 30 minute drive to the camp) airports. There will also be a shuttle for the residents of Dearborn area and a coach for Toronto, Canada.
For campers arriving by air, after booking your flight, you will need to email your itinerary to email@example.com with the subject line saying “Airport Shuttle”. If you do not provide us with the necessary information for pickup, you will need to make alternate shuttle arrangements. All other dates will need to be arranged and scheduled with our coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Are there any group discounts available?
Our rates are subsidized and discounted at all times.
I want to attend the camp but cannot afford it. Is there anything I can do?
Please submit an application for subsidy by July 13th.We will consider it based on your need and available funds. Our support is decided on a first come, first served basis and how much donations we receive. Orphans who are in need are always given first priority.
Is the amount paid refundable?
Yes, provided the cancellation occurs at least 30 days prior to the commencement of the camp. After that period, WE CANNOT REFUND THE REGISTRATION FEE NOR THE CABIN FEES EXCEPT for a valid health reason from a licensed physician. All refunds will be prorated based on the remaining period of the camp. Refunds will be given in the currency that was used during registration. THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS FOR EARLY DEPARTURES AND WE CANNOT MAKE EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.
Can I sponsor a child to attend the camp?
Any help is most appreciated especially since we are non-profit and all donations are tax-exempt. Our goal is to host as many campers as we can because every summer, our campers go home with a positive perspective on life and they take with them some of the tools needed to succeed and establish a caring and sharing community.
Can I donate to the camp?
Tawheed Institute is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Your generous support will ensure its continued progress and success. We also have permission to collect khums and zakat for the project.
Can I volunteer at the camp? If so, who can I contact?
There are many opportunities for volunteer work at our camp. Please fill out the Volunteer Form. The deadline for the form is June 1. We will inform you if we need your service in any particular area. Your help during the camp is always appreciated.
Rules for Visitors and Parents
All visitors and parents must check in and check out at the Welcome Center and get name tags.
Visitor hours are from 10:00 am – 9:00 pm and the fee is $60 per person for a full day visit.
For 1/2 day – approx. 4 hours including one meal – $30 per person.
Parents can visit their children for two hours without any charge, but they must sign in at the Welcome Center.
All visitors must sign a liability waiver to spend the day at camp.
Visitors must supervise their children under 10 years of age at all times.
Visiting children who are not supervised will be charged a fee of $50 per incident.
Is there a phone available for use at the camp?
Yes, there is a landline available for limited use when necessary.
Will my cell phone work at the facility?
Cell phone reception is limited at the facility with most phone networks. However, Sprint and Verizon network coverage is present.
Is there internet access available?
Yes but with limited access.
Will parents and guardians be able to interact with the campers during camp?
Besides emergency situations we recommend limited phone interaction with parents.
How many people can the camp facility accommodate?
Currently Camp Taha can comfortably accommodate up to 300 people. We are limiting registrations to 250 participants for each camp and will give priority to youth campers.
Can I choose to stay together with my friends?
We allow this in general if the age ranges are similar. Cabins are assigned based on many factors and there is no guarantee that campers will be able to stay with each other. Nonetheless, we encourage meeting new friends all the time. In fact, many close friendships develop as a result of the camp experience.
Are the showers and washrooms in the cabins?
All our cabins have showers and washrooms including family cabins.
Does each camper get a bed or do we sleep in sleeping bags?
All campers will have a bed for themselves (each bed is a twin size). Campers have to bring their own bedsheets, pillow and coverings. Usually, having a sleeping bag with an attached pillow works best.
What should I bring with me to the camp?
You can download our items to bring list. Traveling light is recommended.
Additional items to consider:
- Quarters for the laundry machine ($1.00 per wash and $1.00 per dry)(Detergent can be bought at the Welcome Center)
- Tissue box
- 2 garbage bags for laundry
- Bring money to register for Dearborn trip ($30) and extra spending money for shopping
- One piece bathing suit for sisters is required. Modesty is expected at all times.
- Pad and pen
- Proper attire for prayer (Brothers & Sisters)
- Refillable water bottle
Can families stay together at the camp?
We have cabins allocated for families who wish to stay together. There is an additional fee for reserving a cabin. Rates are noted on our Prices page and our registration page automatically calculates the cost if you select to reserve the family cabin. Please note that this cost is charged once for the whole family and not charged per person. Only one parent should select to reserve a cabin during registration. Availability is on a first come first serve basis.
What kind of activities will you be running at this year’s camps?
Activities to promote education in religions, good moral behavior, responsible citizens in society, leadership and public speaking. There will also be daily congregational prayers, Qur’an recitations, group bonfire discussions, participation in theatrical plays and lots of sports.
What sports activities/facilities are available?
Many sports activities are available, including basketball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, zipline, wall climbing, kayaking, swimming and tubing.
Do you have rules and restrictions for the camp?
Yes we do. You should download our regulations for your records and information.
How many meals will be served each day?
Three meals will be served daily and our new menu is enhanced to provide larger portions per your request. We will offer a variety of cooked meals to please various tastes. Our meals are generally organic and of course very halal and fresh.
Do you provide special meals if one has allergy to certain ingredients?
Yes. Please let us know what you need special and we will have our chefs prepare it for you. You will need to note this in your registration form.
Do I have to submit a health report card before attending camp?
Yes. It is mandatory that all participants submit a health report online before attending camp. This helps our health team (doctors/nurses) to determine any emergency measures we may need to take should the situation arise.
